The Internet Is Fucking Stupid: People Are SHOCKED To Find Out The Answer To 550÷2

The answer is 275. Half of 550 is 275. That's the answer.

Every day I'm surprised at how low the bar is for content on the internet. For example, the other day the whole world celebrated a Greta Thunberg tweet that did not make a lick of sense.

WHY WOULD YOUR EMAIL BE SMALLDICKENERGY@GETALIFE.COM?! WHETHER OR NOT ANDREW TATE RECYCLED THE PIZZA BOXES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM GETTING CAUGHT! THEY WERE FRESH PIZZAS! YOU'RE AN ADULT NOW GRETA YOU NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

Then just this morning, a Barstool Sports blogger did an entire exposé on a Twitter account that pretends to be a traffic barrel.

The internet actively make us dumber every single day. And it's literally my job to contribute to the problem by discussing these types of stories. If I was better at my job, then I would be able to write on more substantial topics. Unfortunately I am not, so today I am writing about a group of dumbs on the internet who are beside themselves because they just learned that 550÷2=275 and NOT 225.

I understand where it comes from. It's the last 2 digits of the number. Half of 50 is 25, so a lot of people's minds immediately go to 225 (I guess). But then any person with more than a 1st grade education will go, "Wait, that's not right. It's actually 275, because those are the rules of basic math which I learned before I was allowed to watch Cartoon Network without adult supervision."

This is definitely one of those stories that is framed as "Everyone is shocked!" when in reality it's like 3 people. It's just a good reminder of how stupid people can be.
